CLASS: Knife Skills Fundamentals with Juli Carvi
Being confident with a knife in the kitchen is the difference that turns making dinner from chore to a joy. In this class we will discuss the hows and whys of good knife technique.You'll get plenty of opportunities to chop, pare, julienne and dice as we make Fresh Pineapple Salsa. This quick and dirty ninety minutes of foundational skill building will pay huge dividends as you go on to cook for the rest of your life. Feel free to bring your favorite knife to practice with, or use ours. Juli Carvi has been in the industry for over 30 years. Currently she is the Food Service Director for Bexley City Schools where she is on the forefront of bringing local healthy meals to students in Central Ohio. She got her start at independently owned restaurants in Columbus in the late 80's through the 90's. She learned baking and vegetarian cooking at Whole World Restaurant and Russian/European cooking at Delicatesse under the tutelage of very fine bakers and old world cooks. She writes the blog Egg Day to share her love of baking with others. Juli is also the offspring of a Hungarian father and a German mother where home cooking from scratch was a way of life. "Want sour cream with that?" of course you do. 12 seats are available for this event. A minimum of 6 registrants are required to hold the event. All ticket purchases must be made prior to 5:00 PM, August 25. No refunds or cancellations after August 20. If you are unable to attend, tickets are transferable to other individuals with notice to 1400 Food Lab at 614-636-3164. Tickets are NOT transferable to different events.
